Our extra-curricular highlights
Choir
Our choirs are:
- Junior Choir (Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2)
- Senior Choir (Years 3-6)
Students audition to be selected for these groups at the start of the year.
Students in the Senior Choir often audition for a place in state-wide music festivals. They regularly participate in the Festival of Choral Music (FoCM) which brings students from across NSW to perform selected repertoire in combined mass choirs guided by specialist choral teachers.
Band program
Teaching Services Australia facilitates the school band at Beaumont Hills Public School on Thursdays for students in grades 3 to 6.
Students participate in either group or private lessons on their nominated band instruments as well as a full band rehearsal. The school band is a proud part of the school’s culture and performs at many of their public events. Band students are also offered extra activities such as holiday workshops, band camp & even a band tour at the end of the year. Whole School Musical
Every few years, Beaumont Hills Public School proudly presents a whole school musical. Our most recent musical was Moana which was performed in 2024.
Drumming Group
Students in Stage 3 can audition to join the drumming group. Students learn play a variety of rhythmic patterns using djembe drums. They also explore the musical elements of call and response and improvising to create impressive group compositions.
PSSA
Students in Years 3-6 are given the opportunity to try out to be members of various sports teams, which play in competitive games every Friday. This is referred to as PSSA (Primary School Sport Association). Our school is also involved in State Knockout competitions in a variety of competitive sports.
School Sport Carnivals
For school sports carnivals students are placed in one of four house groups.
These are:
- Knight (blue)
- Pearce (yellow)
- Redden (red)
- Sherwood (green)
Each year, students have the opportunity to compete in the cross country (K-6), athletics carnival (K-2 & Year 2-6) and the swimming carnival (ages 8+).
Trips and excursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
Chess club
Our students have the opportunity to learn to play chess at school as a learning activity that helps children concentrate, think ahead and to think abstractly.
This is an external paid program that parents can choose to enrol their child in. Students attend this once a week during lunchtime each Tuesday. A chess teacher from the chess company attends each session and a school teacher supervises.
Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.
