School award system

Merit awards

K-2 and 3-6 Assemblies are generally held in the session before lunch on alternate Tuesdays in our school hall. Assembly rosters are emailed to families at the beginning of each term to let parents and carers know the dates of upcoming assemblies and which class is hosting them.

When an assembly occurs, teachers acknowledge a range of skills with a Merit Certificate. Learning, behaviour and attitude are criteria for these awards.

Student BEAU award system

BEAU Awards are a positive level system running across the school. Children collect blue BEAU awards over their entire school career and are rewarded at different levels. All teachers and staff members receive a pile of blue BEAU awards to give out to students each term. Students can receive a blue BEAU award for one of four reasons:

• B = Behaviour
• E = Endeavour
• A = Achievement
• U = Understanding

Award progression

As students complete each level, they collect their awards and bring them to the office. They are then stamped and the next level colour is handed out by their teacher in class or at an assembly depending on the type of award.

The achievement of a Green award level is acknowledged in class by their peers and teacher.

Bronze, Silver and Gold Award levels are acknowledged at whole school BEAU Assemblies which are held once or twice a term. Parents and carers will receive an invitation to attend this assembly if their child is receiving an award. Students also receive a corresponding bronze, silver or gold badge at this time.

Our highest award offered is the Platinum Award where the student will be acknowledged at the Presentation Day Assembly, held at the end of the school year. Each student that reaches this prestigious level of our award system will receive an engraved platinum medal enclosed in a clear case for display at their home.
